ask your agency #5

Next post in our “Ask your agency” series… Today we’re sharing question number 5. Below this post you’ll see links to the previous posts in this series.

The Top 10 Questions You Must Ask Your Agency (or Consultant)!

If you use a consultant or an agency to help with your fundraising or marketing you have to ask these 10 questions…and be happy with the answers you hear back.

Number 5 on the list of Top 10 Questions You Must Ask Your Agency:

“What’s your personal experience working in a ministry or a non-profit?”

Whoever is your primary strategy person should understand what your life is really like. There is no substitute for real-life, hands-on experience in a ministry or a nonprofit. Without that depth of experience, you won’t receive realistic, usable strategies.

Anyone can tell you what you ought to do, but wouldn’t it be nice if that advice were based in reality not theory? Wouldn’t it be nice if the person you’re relying on to help grow your ministry knew first-hand your day-to-day struggles? And what an amazing thing to get counsel from people who’ve walked in your shoes and solved the problems you’re experiencing!
