a different kind of book group

Maybe your life is like ours — filled to overflowing with life? Your “Books to Read” list is huge and the time to read is tiny. Plus everyone and their dog has written a book and due to the wonders of social media are out there telling you why you have to read their book or you could end up being the last person in on the planet to not know the secrets of surviving in paradise or online or in wherever.

Because the people in our “tribe” are constantly discussing books and talking to each other about the books we read, We came up with an idea to this form a different kind of book group. You probably can’t come by the office and grab a cup of coffee and chat about books with us. And when the Oneicity tribe gets together, you might not be able to make either. So we’re test driving our book group via webinar!

Unlike most book groups, we’ll read the book for you — tell you if we think it is worth your time, give you the takeaways we found helpful. Most importantly, we’ll give you the practical applications from this book for your nonprofit or ministry. There will be discussion and a Q&A time. Then you can decide if the book sounds like something you’d like to read for yourself. Additionally, if you’ve already read the book, you’ll have the chance to discuss it with our team and guest “thinkers,” which gives us the opportunity to learn from you.

This is what we do all the time with our team. Now we get to share it with you and hear from you.

We’re debuting the concept for a few people the Friday, March 26th. We’ll be discussing Seth Godin’s new book Linchpin. Linchpin is Seth’s best book and a game changer for many people. (Plus he’s another one of those smart bald guys!) If you haven’t read it, you’ll want to join us to hear about how it applies to the nonprofit world. If you’ve read it, we want to hear from you about how it made a difference in your org or life.

Hoots and Thomas will be hosting the call along with a couple of our team members. Rather than do this test drive for only insiders, we decided that we’ll just throw it open to our friends on the blog and see who wants to help shape the future of this wild idea. It’ll be a little raw and unscripted, but that’s half the fun!

Here’s how it will work for this pilot.
When: March 26, Friday 11AM PT
How: It’s a webinar. We’ll have video and audio. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and join in the conversation with your thoughts.
Sign up: The number of seats is very limited. If you would like to join, send us an email us and we’ll confirm your registration. If you’re in, we’ll email you the link and additional information 24 hours before the event.

Join in the fun. We’d love to have you make your mark on future book groups. And even if you cannot make it, let us know what books you’ve been dying to read but haven’t managed to squeeze in yet. We’ll see what we can cover in the weeks and months ahead.

Can’t wait to see you Friday.
