how we work

// You and your data inform analysis.

1. Analysis. Everything we do is grounded in analysis. When we’re talking about this we usually begin drawing pictures. Analysis and strategy are both the starting place and the end point. To build good strategy (not a cookie-cutter strategy) we look at your data. We call that “lift the hood.” We prowl around to see what is happening with your ministry. Are too many donors lapsing? Are you mailing too deeply or to the wrong people? Is your monthly donor program working? Are you acquiring enough new donors and more importantly are they the right donors? Where’s your web giving? What happened to receipt giving this year? Once we have the raw data gathered, we compile it so that it isn’t just a data-dump. We build actionable, meaningful, revealing reporting.

// Our analysis, with input from you, informs strategy.

2. Strategy. Once analysis is done we can craft strategy. Our strategy is based on your history, the analysis and our experience. No strategy fits everyone every time (you may have noticed proven strategies that tanked during the last half of 2008).Our plans are based on our lift the hood analysis, not what we do for everyone else. As we execute strategy, we’re constantly monitoring results, completing the circle to evaluate strategy. What we know is that if we understand what is happening with donors and design strategies to meet your needs by building relationships with your donors, the results are spectacular!

// The results from strategy complete the cycle and inform what we do next.

3. Strategic Doing. Most non-profits and ministries have more than one strategic plan on the shelf. Sometimes what is missing is delivery. And since most ministries are very busy—there is no shortage of urgent things to do—there is often no one to execute critical components of the plan. “Strategic Doing” is a core strength of Oneicity in that we complete the task that will make the most difference right now for the future strength of the ministry. Often we have to put out a “fire” before we can do much analysis or before a strategy will bear fruit. We can help you figure out how to get things back on track. No matter what is happening, we roll up our sleeves and help you get the work done—from creating data hygiene routines to solving your gift processing and data entry insanity. We won’t be like consultants who only give you more things that you have to do.
